My name is Macy. Me, my mom and my sisters were at an animal control facility in
Indiana. I was really scared. I was only five months old. The people at animal
control fed me and nobody was hurting me like before. I saw a lot of dogs come and
go. I saw my sisters go and finally it was just me and my mom. I heard the people
who fed me say that nobody wanted a dog like me because I acted really scared. They
said nobody wanted my mom because she was big and old. We were going to be put down
to make room for more adoptable dogs. Then one day a lady and a man came and took
me and my mom. I was really scared, I shook all the way to the new place and I wet
myself. I tried to hide. We went to the doctor and got our shots and some tests.
My mom went to a no-kill rescue. (She is still available for adoption, click here)
I stayed with the lady and man and two other dogs. I was a foster dog and now I
am a forever dog. I have two big sisters. At first I wouldn’t take food from my
new human mom and dad. I tried to hide under the bed or behind plants. They had
to make me special soft food at first. They gave me my own soft bed and a toy box,
I had never had a bed or a toy so I didn’t know what to do. It took me a long time
but one day I started trusting them. I’m still a little bit scared but it gets better
every day. Now I go in the car and I swim with my big sisters. I remember my life
before, it was very unsafe. Now I love life and my human mom and dad say I’m a
great dog. I think I am. It’s sad to think that other scared dogs like me don’t
always get the chance I did. Sometimes dogs are scared and they often get looked
over. If you see a dog like I used to be, please consider adoption. I heard my
mom say that I was a lot of work and that I often made mistakes, but she said it
wasn’t my fault. She said she was patient and taught me that this was a safe place.
She potty trained me and taught me my name. I’m really glad I’m safe in my forever
home.
